Company history

The company has been working and striving for over 40 years to offer the best service and one of the best alternatives in terms of sales, rental, maintenance, assembly and installation of tower cranes.

The company has grown slowly but steadily over time, overcoming the sometimes harsh difficulties of the various economic crises of recent years, but in a solid manner, consolidating itself as one of the leading firms in its market.

HISTORY

Antonio Cerezo del Rey trained as a welder at the Universidad Laboral in Córdoba, where he was born, and moved to Barcelona in the 1970s, where he worked in workshops and in construction as a welder of metal structures, soon moving on to the assembly of tower cranes. In 1977, he moved to Lleida as a tower crane assembler and repairer for the French company POTAIN, then the market leader in Spain, who later offered him the position of official distributor for the Lleida area. On 1 August 1980, he founded this company together with his wife María Rodríguez Nevado, who was always by his side, supporting all his decisions and playing a fundamental role in the growth and sustenance of the company, its character and its values. María was a key figure in all the company’s achievements thanks to her unconditional support, her capacity for anonymous but essential work, and the humanity she brought to the company’s industrial process.

Until the mid-1980s, there was no tower crane rental market in Spain. Cranes belonged to construction companies, and crane companies only assembled and maintained these tower cranes. However, the modernisation and increasingly frequent use of tower cranes in construction led companies dedicated to assembly to begin purchasing used tower cranes from Spain and other markets, mainly France. These cranes were brought in, reconditioned and put up for rent. This satisfied a need that grew rapidly, driven by Spain’s development during those years until 2007.

In 1996, a very important change took place for the company when it was awarded the distribution and official technical service contract for LIEBHERR, the world’s leading tower crane manufacturer. This milestone was one of the keys to the company’s successful development in the following period and remains one of its strengths and competitive advantages today.

During these years, the company has continued to grow in different parts of Spain and has created regional offices with its own staff to achieve proximity and quality of service in the areas where the company operates.

‘And today we continue with the same work philosophy and spirit of improvement, setting ourselves small goals and achieving them little by little, day by day, demonstrating maturity and efficiency in the marketing of Lagrúa Torrey and personalised attention to our customers in relation to rental machinery, striving to offer them the best quality of service.’
